Washington: Country Bicycling Event Combines Outdoors and Excercise

The 6th Annual Mt. Adams Country Bicycle Tour will take place this Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Trout Lake, Washington. The event offers bike rides for various skill levels, from child to professional. There are fees to partcipate (see website).

There are 3 bike rides offered for the event.

Family Fun Ride (White)
11.5 Miles
This is a great ride for the whole family that takes place on country roads that wind through the Trout Lake Valley with views of Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood.

Valley Loop (Yellow)
51 Miles
Cyclists will climb for 6 1/2 miles through beautiful rural land, pass by Conboy Lake Wildlife Refuge then back through the pine forest to Trout Lake Valley. The course will rise to an elevation 2,700 feet.

Forest Double Loop
105 Miles
Climb 14 1/2 miles (2000 feet gain in elevation) then ride down, winding by waterfalls, creeks and natural habitats. This bike ride will include a break for lunch half way through.

Safety is key for any long outdoor biking, hiking or climbing trip. The bike tour will be fully supported by sagwagons, emergency teams, radio coverage, rest and snack stops and will end with a picnic dinner for participants.
