The Year of LED May Be Now
Lighting Science Group has announced they plan to distribute LED light bulbs to major retailers that can be an instant replacement to any regular CFL lamp or light fixture in the home or office. The company hopes that the wide-variety of bulbs in this new deal will attract more consumers to purchase them as a greener solution.
Lighting Science Group believes that 2008 will be the “year for LED” in residential use. Up to this point the growth of LED light bulb use has been limited by the products high price tag and the light quality of earlier versions. The company believes that new technology has allowed LED manufacturers to improve the color rendered from these bulbs which has deterred consumers in the past. Their long life cycle and lower energy consumption has spoken for itself for many years. If this can be harnessed and used by consumers, energy efficiency in the home can be greatly increased.

Lighting is one of the things that consumers can control in their homes. If we are truly going to move toward a more green way of life, light sources is one of the easiest and best ways to reduce power consumption and save money. Price is an issue for some but the cost savings over time are staggering - the sticker shock at the front is worth it over the long haul.
Competition will undoubtedly drop the prices in the future as well. So start converting to LED lights now. Start saving money now. Start saving the planet now.
