The Union of Buildings & Billboards
Remember the shot in Blade Runner showing a car flying in front of a building displaying a huge Geisha’s eye? Well, if a certain LA developer has his way, even that forward-thinking film may soon be out-dated.
Developer Sonny Astani plans to install strips of LEDs on two of his new condominium buildings, assuming the design is approved by city planning officials. According to the Astani’s plans, three-inch wide, half-inch thick LED strips would be hung horizontally every six inches to turn ten stories of each building into a giant video display. The displays would shine at a sixth of the strength of typical LED displays. Additionally, images on the building would move slowly, and commercial displays would be intermixed with art displays.
