Super LEDs Increase OR Efficiency at Arizona Hospital
The Arizona Republic reports today that a new operating room at Phoenix’s Banner Estrella Medical Center’s upgrade includes futuristic features such as powerful, voice-controlled LED lights, and multiple high-definition flat screen displays.
The multi-reflector, super-bright LED lights, with 28 bulbs each, will eliminate shadows from the operating table. Hospital officials say the new operating room’s $800,000 price tag will easily be recovered, as the room’s new gadgets will quicken each surgery. For instance, the doctors will be able to control the lights using only their voice, freeing nurses to focus on other tasks.
Installing LED task lighting in work areas often results in increased efficiency. The Swanlake Moon Spot Lamp, shown above, provides brilliant white light exactly where needed, while pulling only .8 watts of energy.
