Ridgeline Trail Opens in South Carolina

A new trail is being developed that will connect Crowders Mountain State Park with Kings Mountain State Park in South Carolina. The new trail, being called the Ridgeline Trail, will give hiking enthusiasts an additional seven miles of hiking off of the existing Pinnacle Trail. The trail is being funded by $1.3 million from the state and is expected to be open to hikers in fall 2008 (Read more about the benefits of Fall hiking and camping in this blog).

Work has been underway on the trail to provide erosion control and secure the safest route but signage is not yet up. Both state workers and volunteers have been aiding in the effort. This is a great addition to an already wonderful trailway in the area.  Parks representatives hope to develop trails that will connect Crowders Mountain State Park with a trail running to Kings Mountain in the future as well.
