Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about reserving campsites.  Growing up, it was first come, first serve for prime camping spots in our area (southern Oregon).  My family would send one or two of our non-working or out of school family members to go up the river and find us a great camping spot. When a site big enough was found in one of our favorite areas, they would stake a claim on it and wiat. For a couple of days, those lucky couple of people got to enjoy the great outdoors in peace. Then the the other twenty-some family members would arrived and the real family camping trip could begin. 

However, I can imagine that most don’t like the uncertainly of planning a camping trip without a guarantee of a place to pitch their tent or throw in their fishing pole.  It is for these people that ReserveAmerica was created.  ReserveAmerica is an all inclusive website that enables campers to find and reserve campsites across the US.

Using the online search form, visitors to the site can search for camping spots by state, region and preferred camping dates.  You can also fine tune your search to specifiy campsite features like boat sites, equipment, trails, electricity, etc. There is also an interactive google map feature and a list of hot spots in areas around the US.  Once you have found your preferred site, you must create a member user account and then fill out the necessary form.  Fast and easy.

Use the site – it is definitely an easier route than researching campgrounds via a printed directory listing and calling to make reservations.
