The Golden Dragon LEDs from Osram have been used to illuminate Austrian streets and Olympic Fountains in Beijing. Now, Dellux Technologies has decided to use them to light the Thüringer Schmücketunnel in Germany. The A71 autobahn tunnel in Thuringen will be the longest tunnel in Europe to be illuminate using LED lights. Dellux is estimated to be installing 800 light sources into the tunnel, each containing 100 LEDs. The tunnel luminaires created by Dellux which will use Osrams LEDs are estimated to last a minimum of 15 years – that’s 130,000 hours of continuous light – and should save roughly 30% in energy costs to run.
