Novaled Makes Strides in White OLED Lighting Efficiency
Novaled, an OLED developer, reported their development of white OLEDs for lighting applications with an efficiency of 35 lumens/W and a lifetime of 100,000 hours at a brightness of 1000 cd/m2. You can read more about Novaled’s, OLED fixture development in my blog post “LED Light Applications Becoming More and More Diverse.”
“With this achievement Novaled proves once more the advantages of its technology and associated materials for an OLED device combining high performance and long lifetime”, says Jan Birnstock, Novaled VP Technology Transfer.
The OLED features a stacked setup with blue fluorescent and red/green phosphorescent emitter materials. Novaled used their proprietary materials for the stacking layer and transport layer. The OLED device is equipped with a standard out-coupling enhancement film.
The reported measurement was conducted in an integrating sphere which took into account the full forward emission, thus corresponding to a real-life application.
