North Carolina City Approves New Trail System
The Brevard City Council approved connecting the Bracken Hiking Trail system with the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education in North Carolina on Thursday. The council also requested that city staff look into a possible partnership with the United States Forest Service and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The approval from the city council coupled with the $1.1 million dollars from the state gives the city what it needs to begin the development phase of the hiking trail project.
The new hiking trail will help preserve a 400 acre property from being developed for commercial use. Volunteers will be requested to help build the trail ways, picnic areas and wildlife management areas.
