New Santa Monica Ferris Wheel Lit by LEDs
Deja visite is the uncanny recognition of a new, never-seen place. Those who experience deja visite find they have the surprising ability to navigate towns or neighborhoods to which they are complete strangers.
While proposed reasons for this experience range from strange drug reactions to neurological functioning, the Santa Monica Ferris Wheel at Pacific Park may cause throw visitors into deja viste for an entirely different reason: they’ve seen it in dozens of music videos and films, including Forrest Gump and Funny Girl.
However, with the recent installation of a new LED-lit wheel, future visitors may be less likely to experience deja visite. The ride is still the only solar-powered ferris wheel in the world. In addition, it sports 160,000 energy-efficient LED bulbs, which may be programmed to display patterns such as seasonal wreaths, hearts, and stars.
