New Glasgow Bridge Gets LED Lighting Design by Dialight

For the record, I’m a big fan of Glasgow.  It made an impression on me ten years ago and since them I am always interested in what is going on in that incredible city. So I was pretty interested to hear that Dialight Lumidrives, an LED technology provider out of the UK, has added a new LED effect to the city’s newest bridge, the Finnieston Bridge at Pacific Quay.

Designers Carmichael Lighting Ltd used color-changing LEDs to create the dramatic lighting on the new 169-meter road bridge across River Clyde.  The lighting system is controlled by 40 colordriver 36 modules.

“LEDs provide a superb lighting effect for the bridge,” said managing director at Dialight Lumidrives, Gordon Routledge. “What’s more, the LED power consumption of the light arch is only 96 watts whereas lighting by traditional sources would require around 500W. LEDs are therefore extremely energy efficient, long lasting and require virtually no maintenance.”
