New Biking-Hiking Trail Opening in Cambria County, Pennsylvania
Construction began this month on a New Portage Railroad trail along the Cambria-Blair county line that will open up five new miles of biking and hiking trails for outdoor enthusiasts. The trail is intended to eventually link to the Path of the Flood Trail outside of Johnstown. The trail, estimated to cost $1.2 million to complete, will give visitors a real understanding of how goods and people moved over the mountains before modern highways were around. The new trail will offer some great mountainous hiking trails and a great scenic view of Pennsylvania’s outdoors. The trail will open in autumn 2008.
