According to the Kansas City Star, Missouri has added dates to their youth-only deer hunting season. The state previously established November 1st and 2nd as hunting days just for minors, with the hope that adults would then focus on teaching kids how to hunt safely. January 3rd and 4th are being added to allow Missourians to take advantage of the holiday as they teach their young hunter how to properly use their new rifle.

Until deer season begins, however, hunters in Kansas and Missouri can enjoy pursuing a much less noble creature– the turkey. Turkey hunting season runs through May 31st.
