LEDs Create Romantic Dining Atmosphere

Candle in the WindSometimes, technology moves faster than the human mind can readily accept. I recently experienced this while chatting over drinks. One of my friends (who happens to be in medical school) was playing around with the candle at our table, covering it with her hand and noticing how the light changed. Only about halfway through the evening did she notice that she wasn’t feeling any heat. Usually, this kind of candle-play would have burned her hand. Not only was she not getting burned, she wasn’t feeling heat at all.

This experience was possible through LED lighting. Our table had beautiful LED tea lights set in vases. These lights were nearly impossible to distinguish from actual candle light. The customers could enjoy the cozy atmosphere, while the owners enjoyed peace of mind, knowing that their restaurant was that much safer. I’m sure the owners were saving money as well, since LED lighting is quite efficient.

Restaurant designers and owners across the country are increasingly turning to LED lighting to illuminate as well as create a mood. Sometimes LED lighting can become even more. As Leslie Kelly writes for the Seattle P-I,

“Sometimes, lights are like works of art. At the new Boom Noodle (1121 E. Pike St. [Seattle, WA]), a field of 60 pendant lights fitted with LED bulbs hang from the high ceiling, the halo of green diodes in each bulb casting a “look at me” glow.

Designer Michael Ausich was hoping to create a sense of shelter. ‘Without it,’ he said, ‘that space would feel too vast with its cavernous ceilings.’

The uber-cool bulbs pull off a little bit of fusion, combining the old-fashioned shape and a modern twist. Beyond appearances, they’re also energy efficient.

‘This is something you’ve got to think about when you’re a new retailer or restaurant,” Ausich said. “Those 60 bulbs use the same amount of energy as 1 1/2 incandescent bulbs.’”

So, if you’re a designer or restaurant owner, consider choosing LED lighting instead of traditional lightbulbs or candles. Although your customers may not be used to the enchanting light sans heat, you’ll easily get used to the compliments on your dining atmosphere and lightening of your wallet.

DLK offers the Candle in the Wind collection of fun and cost-efficient table lights, as shown in the picture above. These lights come in several colors and sizes, so be sure to choose the best options for your lighting needs.
