LED Shoes Light the Way To Safe Exercize

LED shoes, from DVICE.comEver wonder why pedestrians and runners don’t take the same nocturnal precautions as bikers do? After all, according to the Federal Highway Administration, there were 4,881 pedestrian accidents in 2005. Perhaps inconvenience has kept those who travel by foot in the dark. After all, short of wearing loud clothing and carrying a flashlight everywhere, there are few convenient ways to warn motorists.

The days of invisible pedestrians could soon be disappearing in the rear view mirror, as it were. Yanko Design recently released a new concept shoe featuring LED lights in the front and back. Batteries wouldn’t add extra weight, since the lights would be powered by kinetic energy. As reported at DVICE, “The bank of LEDs is bright enough to light up an area five feet in front of you, and there’s a stylish green taillight in back.”
