LED Lights: The Future Is Here

Meet George Jetson, His Boy Elroy, Daughter Judy and his music playing, LED light emitting credit card.  This may just be the future folks.

AgiLight has announced that they have come up with a way to insert light-emitting diodes into thin films that can be embedded into devices the size of a credit card.  The shrinking size of chips and better packaging make the addition of complex semiconductors no longer something of science fiction.

This application comes at a great time as credit card fraud is at its peak.  An LED display application could be used to flash a dynamic security code for the card.  This would deter online credit card fraud as you would need the card itself in order to make a transaction.

The applications are not limited to credit card either.  The thin films, about the thickness of a sheet of paper, could be applied for uses in mirrors and glass.  Imagine brushing your teeth in the morning while watching the CNN headlines or stock numbers scroll by in front of you.

AgiLight made the announcement at the Clean Energy Venture Summit in Austin, Texas this week. The summit was held to promote and discuss “The Utility of the Future” by bringing together clean energy entrepreneurs, investors, industry experts and government officials.  AgiLight to date has focused on selling LED lights to replace neon bulbs in commercial signs. Neon bulbs use a significant amount of electricity.
