Tacoma Narrows Bridge To Be Lit with LEDs
The News Tribune of Tacoma, Washington reports today that volunteers at NarrowsBridgeLights.org are waiting to be approved for non-profit status before outfitting the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge with 8-foot LED tubes hung every 40 feet across the bridge. Reporter Kathleen Merryman writes, “The low-energy lights can be programmed to display any color the eye can see.” The group plans to use a $1.5 million state grant to fund the project. The lights will be powered through solar arrays hooked into the electrical grid.
Thinking about making a similar move for your home? LEDs are a great way to improve security and increase curb appeal. The Flood Leflector, right, is only one option for external LED lighting.
