Tacoma Narrows Bridge To Be Lit with LEDs

Tacoma Narrows Bridge from the topThe News Tribune of Tacoma, Washington reports today that volunteers at NarrowsBridgeLights.org are waiting to be approved for non-profit status before outfitting the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge with 8-foot LED tubes hung every 40 feet across the bridge. Reporter Kathleen Merryman writes, “The low-energy lights can be programmed to display any color the eye can see.” The group plans to use a $1.5 million state grant to fund the project. The lights will be powered through solar arrays hooked into the electrical grid.
