LED Lighting Market Revenues to reach $8.8 billion through 2011
LED (Light Emitting Diodes) lighting is becoming more and more pervasive in the lighting market thanks to their longevity and efficiency. The Report Buyer, a UK-based independent online store supplying business information on major industry sectors including energy and utilities, estimates that LED lighting applications will increase to an $8.8 million dollar revenue projection 2011. This means that the implementations of LED lights will grow and expand into other market areas not yet even tapped.
The report estimates significant growth in both the mobile device LED market and the display backlighting market. These markets as well as the current outdoor lighting equipment market are currently utilizing LED lights the most heavily though, as this writer has pointed out in previous posts, larger scale home and city lighting are also being explored around the world. It will be interesting to see how our light fixtures, electronics, sporting equipment and appliances evolve over the next ten years as LED lighting technologies is funded and researched.
