LED Lenser Revolution Headlamp | My Favorite Camping Gadget
I’ll admit it – I thought using a headlamp was a bit corny. I mean, how often do you find yourself mining through mountainous crevices searching for gold these days? I was stigmatized by the idea that headlamps were for miners and firemen. But a friend told me that they were the greatest lighting device to have while outdoors so I gave it a try. My friend – he was right.
Of all the equipment I had with me – new tent, camping chairs, new stove – the headlamp was my absolute favorite. This thing is perfect for working or playing at night because your hands are free and the light is the perfect white light that you would expect from an LED.
The headlamp I used was the LED Lenser LL7468 Revolution headlamp by Coast. This little gadget’s adjustable strap fit onto my little head as well as my much larger headed friend. The 1.25 watt LED provided a great high-intensity beam visible for what seemed to be a mile (Coast states the beam is actually visible up to 1.7 miles). What made this LED light even more of an asset was that the high-intensity beam could be dimmed to a quieter, more subtle light if needed by simply moving a dimming switch located a the back of the headlamp band. The LED light is also on a hinge so that you can move the beam up or down depending on how directly you want it to shine.
These features were great to have while we were camping and hiking. When we arrived after dusk, I put on the headlamp and started a fire without having to fumble with a flashlight and fire starting gear. This also freed up my friend to start unpacking the car instead of holding a flashlight to help me. I also wore it while I was cooking over our camp stove. We only had one other lantern so the headlamp was a lifesaver to have. I hiked around looking for firewood and looked for things in the back of the car using the Revolution headlamp all while wearing the headlamp. It was hard to not leave it on during the day just because it came in so handy at night. And you know what? I didn’t feel a bit corny.
