Kelowna, Canada Installs Solar LED Streetlights
Solar panels aren’t just for warm, sunny climates. For evidence, look to Kelowna, Canada, the third largest city in British Columbia. As RenewableEnergyWorld.com reports, Kelowna is instroducing 100 Carmanah EverGEN lights in public areas across the city. The lights are easy to install, as they are entirely self-contained– no trenches, cables, or permits are required. The city’s savings should be substantial, since the sun-powered lights will cut monthly utility bills completely out of the equation.
Want to follow Kelowna’s example of “Going Green,” as the city calls their
environmental awareness campaign? Replace a few of your halogen bulbs with LEDs, which require less energy, last longer, and can be recycled. The Coast Spot Leflector, left, is a great bulb to to efficiently light the darker, hard to reach areas in your home or office. It will last 20-50 times longer than hallogen bulbs, while burning brighter to beautifully showcase your home’s architecture, garden, or art.
