Hiking Trails Close For Hunting Season
Heads-Up Hikers – Some hiking trails may be closing periodically over the next two months due to hunting season.
Some hiking trails that bump up against private hunting areas may be closed over the next few weeks to ensure safety and allow for designated hunting seasons. Take Wisconsin, for example. The hiking trails around the Mosquito Hill Nature Center are closed now through November 25 to allow for the gun deer hunting season that is open in the private property surrounding the Outagamie County park. The same trail will also be closed from December 6-9 for antlerless deer season. You can find out more information about the closure by contacting the nature center at (920) 799-6433.
Safety during hunting season is very important. Along with carrying the appropriate survival and safety equipment, it is important to wear clothing that can be seen by others and notify a third party of your plans and when you plan to return.
