Hikers Found In California’s Sierra Nevada
Two adults and nine teenagers were found safe yesterday in the Sierra Nevada region after they did not meet-up at the scheduled time with a fellow hiker. The group was part of the Outbound Hiking program, an organization that designs activities to inspire people of all ages, to build character and to promote self-discovery. Search and Rescue had been looking for the missing group since the weekend.
Fortunately, the group was able to hike out of the wilderness to a store at Florence Lake and call their base camp for assistance. There was no cell phone service where the group was hiking, some 10,000 feet in elevation. Everyone in the group was well prepared and no injuries have been reported.
