Fishing, Hunting Are Up in Oregon
So far this year, Oregonian’s have spoken loud and clear – “We will continue to fish!” The ODFW has recorded an 18% increase in the number of fishing licenses sold this year compared to last. Despite whatever economic woes the state is seeing, the reasons we love Oregon are still the reasons that will get us out spending and sporting.
Speculators consider the uptake in fishing license sales an indication of the growing number of out-of-work men and women with more time on their hands. That very well may be so. Fishing can be an inexpensive and relaxing past time for those dealing with the stress of not having a source of income.
At either rate, anglers are enjoying the waters that Oregon has to offer. Inexpensive equipment is still available for fishermen to take advantage of as well. For instance, the Coast Forceps Kit, perfect for clamping onto hooks and flies, is just $4.00 now through DLK. And the always reliable Digitac I LED flashlight, perfect for any outdoor supply kit, is just $20.00 and could last for over 100,000 hours.
