Fewer Fellow Fishers Means More River For You

Herbert Hoover may have expressed the benefits of fishing best when he said, “Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers.” When you’re surrounded by pristine nature, allowing the currents to flow around you, it’s easy to feel peaceful.

Fewer and fewer Americans have the pleasure of finding that peace these days. A fifteen year study from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service found that the number of anglers declined 16% from 1991 to 2006. Similar results were reported for hunters.

But if you’re surfing this site, you’re probably already an outdoorsman or -woman. Just thank your private fishing gods for fewer fellow anglers competing for that magnificent aquatic monster lurking just below the surface.

Fillet and Scissors KitFishing can be a lonely endeavor at times, though. Bring along a son, daughter, grandchild, or neighbor, and you’re guaranteed a rapt audience for your (potentially true) fishing stories. DLK offers an array of fishing kits to kick off their lifelong fishing habit. Give the Fisherman’s Fillet and Scissor Kit, at right, and your protege will soon be cutting line and boning their catch with ease.
