Earth Hour: Lights Out March 28

Earth Hour LogoOn Saturday, March 28 at 8:30pm in whatever time zone you are in, millions of people are expected to turn off their lights for an hour to raise awareness for the amount of wasted energy we create every day and the need for better energy use solutions to help reduce the impacts of global warming. The event, called Earth Hour started in Australia two years ago. The goal of organizers is to have a billion people turn off their lights for the hour. Major cities are expected to join in – the Eiffel Tower will go dark to honor the event.

The day has been a big topic in online forums like twitter and facebook. But the concept of improving lighting efficiency has been at the forefront of lighting technology innovation for several years. Light sources like LED lights are being built and created to help us use energy more efficiently for lighting, reducing the effects of global warming on our environment.
