Cree Launches Smallest Lighting Class LEDs

Cree_XPECree, Inc. has come out with two new lighting-class LEDs that provide the same high-performance and reliability of their other LEDs but in a 80% smaller package. One of the new XLamp LEDS is just 3.45 millimeters square by 2 millimeters high which makes it ideal for backlighting, signage, indoor, outdoor and portable lighting applications which are moving to smaller and lighter form factors.

“This new platform, in concert with the existing XLamp products and the recently demonstrated XLamp MC-E LED, give LED lighting designers enhanced flexibility and performance to further accelerate the LED lighting revolution,” said Paul Thieken, Cree marketing director for LED components in a recent press announcement.

LED flashlight and headlamp manufacturer, Coast, utilized Cree Inc. LEDs in many of their handheld lighting products because of their superior performance and efficiency.
