Cree Inc. announced Wednesday that its fiscal 1Q09 revenue was $140.4 million. The fiscal year ended September 28, 2008. This revenue is a 24% increase from its 1Q08 revenue and 3% increase over its 4Q08 revenue.

In a Cree press release, Chuck Swoboda, chairman and CEO of Cree said,”Revenue growth was driven by LEDs, including another strong double-digit increase in XLamp sales. LED lighting sales [in general] grew by double digits.”

Cree’s success is being attributed to the popularity of the Cree XLamp family of LEDs. Cree is a leading supplier of LED bulbs for outdoor flashlights and lamps, streetlamp and display lights and other programmable lighting functions.
