CN Tower Lighting Ceremony Was Huge Event

Well, it’s not exactly a Fourth of July fireworks display but it was an entertaining bit of lighting magic. As I wrote last week, the CN Tower in downtown Toronto received a lighting face lift which was unveiled on Thursday, June 28th to a huge crowd.  At 10pm, the city’s mayor and various CEOs involved in the project gave speeches on the importance of the building and the new LED lighting treatment.

In addition to the speeches and the light show itself, there was live entertainment, media, and free giveaways provided at Roundhouse Park located at the base of the tower.

The LED light show that followed was about ten minutes long and was set to music. The $2.5 million dollar LED lighting system added to the tower has been a huge topic of conversation for Toronto residents.  The lighting ceremony was generally well received by locals. Now the buzz is around how this new city landmark will change the tourism industry in the area (think of all the new postcards that need to be made).

Take a look at the tower yourself. You can view the entire 10 minute CN Tower lighting ceremony on YouTube.
