Buckingham Palace Gets LED Chandelier in an Effort to be Green
Well, even the Royals are getting into the act of “being green.” In an effort to be more energy efficient, Buckingham Palace is getting updated with an LED chandelier and other LED light fixtures. Bespoke Lighting and LEDtronics has undertaken the project of introducing LED lighting into London’s greatest home per the request of The Royal Household. It is their hope that the new lighting in the palace will reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs.
By changing the old center room chandelier with the new LED lamp has produced an 80% energy savings. The LEDs are also able to put off the right kind of ambient light suited for the various locations within the Royal Palace.
“The aesthetics of the respective rooms is a major consideration and consequently we needed an option on the color of the lamps,” said LEDtronics president and founder, Pervaiz Lodhie. “Bespoke lighting and LEDtronics have succeeded in providing the perfect solution for The Royal Household and their energy saving strategy has been greatly enhanced.”
