Body of Lonely Planet Author Found
It has been almost three months since Clem Lindenmayer disappeared while hiking near Minya Konka Mountain in the Sichuan province. On July 19, Chinese officials notified the media that Lindenmayer’s body was found in a remote area in the southwest. It is unknown what caused the experienced climbers death.
Clem Lindenmayer wrote for Lonely Planet, a travel guide and booking web site for global travel, for over a decade. He spoke Mandarin, German, Spanish as well as his native English and wrote several books including Trekking in the Patagonian Andes and Walking in Switzerland.
Lindenmayer’s family last heard from him in May via email. The message to his wife indicated that he was heading on a hike around the rugged mountain range once a part of Tibet. The email also said that he was planning to do a six-day circuit around Mount Gongga. Lindenmayer’s family left Australia to search for him in June.
