Arkansas Sharpening Stones

A knife is a useless piece of metal if it is not clean and sharp.  When a quality knife becomes dull, appropriate measures need to be taken to improve the usability and functionality of the blade. A sharpening stone is the most useful and respected way to sharpen a solid, stainless steel knife. Virtually all stones operate in the same manner – the stone cuts metal off the edge of the knife so as to make the knife sharp again. But, not all stones are identical. The most popular of all knife sharpening stones is the tried and true Arkansas stone. There are hard and soft Arkansas stones – the difference strengths provide either fine or coarse grits when sharpening the knife. This correlates with how dull the knife is and how much sharpening needs to be done.  Arkansas stones are the universal sharpening stones because they can handle any type of knife and easily sharpen any type of blade. They are a must have knife accessory for any hunter or outdoors person.
