Flexible OLED Display Rolled Out

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Today Arizona State University’s Flexible Display Center Researchers announced they have created a 4.1 monochrome GVGA organic-emitting diode (OLED) display on DuPont Polyethylene naphthalate substrate. Big words. Big words I know but check it out, this new innovation is just another step in the evolution of LED technology. This is a major step toward creating flexible OLEDs – rollable, flat displays. Think about what that could mean for computer displays and televisions…! The energy efficiency is incredible with this innovation. The material used in the OLED these researchers created allows the lights to convert 100% of the electrical energy into light; fluorescent OLEDs convert only 25%.
