Connecticut Presents Annual Climate Change Leadership Awards

The state began handing out the CCCLAs (CT Climate Change Leadership Awards) in 2006 to encourage sustainable practices in businesses, organizations, and individuals across the state.

Why Anglers Get Hooked On Night Fishing

To the uninitiated, fishing at night may seem a rather foolish venture, since it combines hooks with darkness. However, night fishing is gaining in popularity among experienced anglers for several reasons. First, in hotter climates where the midday sun can scald, it’s often more comfortable to fish in the cooler nocturnal air. Many also prefer the jetboat-free silence of fishing at night. Most important, though, is the activity of the fish themselves: some species, including bass, white bass, crappie are at their most active at night. Longtime fishermen and fisherwomen often find they get more bites at night, especially during the full moon.

Small Pack Aerial Rescue Kits Ready For Oregon Rescues

The 304th Rescue Squadrom, a US Air Force Reserve unit has been testing out new Small Pack Aerial Rescue Kits (SPARK) over the last couple of weeks to use in Oregon this year. These kits are designed to help lost hikers or campers who may not be able to be reached by ground search and rescue crews but who are spotted by Civil Air Patrol. All too often the Oregon Sheriff’s Association has found that victims can be spotted overhead but nothing can be done by the air crew but continue to circle. These new kits are hiking or camping survival kits that can be dropped down to unprepared outdoors people.
