Big game hunters know that field-dressing an animal can be a difficult and time consuming job, especially if you are not completely sure what you are doing. To ensure that you are at least prepared for the large undertaking, make sure you have the following with you when you head out for your big game hunting season this Fall.
An increase number of geese staying in the state rather than migrating has created a large Canadian Geese population for NY hunters to take advantage of. Saturday marks the start of the geese hunting season for those bird hunters in the region. Hunters can now take eight geese a day during the special hunting season running from Sept. 1-25. Hunters are required to use non-toxic shot and guns plugged to three shots. Hunters must also be registered in the Harvest Information Program (HIP). Hunters will need to carry their signed current migratory bird-hunting stamp and their 2006 hunting license during the season.
